The gold is worked into a continuous rim that wraps the stone from every side and holds it without prongs. The setting sits low against the finger, catches on nothing, and protects the edge of the stone completely.
It is the most practical setting we make and the cleanest in outline, which is why it suits anyone who works with their hands or wears gloves.
